If this sounds like you, this book was written for you.
- You follow films, messages and meetings in English, but when someone turns to you, your mind goes quiet.
- You know the grammar. You have the words. They simply won’t come out in time.
- You answer in two or three words, then think of the perfect reply on the way home.
- You’ve taken classes before, and they gave you more to know, not more courage to speak.
- You want to practise at your own pace, somewhere nobody is watching, until you’re ready.
unstuck is for level B1, the stage where you understand far more than you can say. It suits teenagers and adults alike. You don’t need a teacher, a partner or a fixed timetable. You need about twenty minutes a day, your phone, and a willingness to speak out loud, even when you’re alone.
Not sure about your level? If you can read this page without much trouble, you’re in the right place.

Twelve chapters. Twelve small freedoms.
Each chapter takes about a week, and each one gives you something you can do by the end of it.
- 1
Buying time
By the end, you can keep talking when your mind goes blank.
- 2
More than “I’m fine”
By the end, you can talk about yourself with more than short answers.
- 3
Say it another way
By the end, you can explain a word when you can’t remember it.
- 4
So what happened?
By the end, you can tell a short story about something that happened.
- 5
Have you ever…?
By the end, you can talk about things you have done in your life.
- 6
I think so, because…
By the end, you can give your opinion and say why.
- 7
I see it differently
By the end, you can disagree with someone, politely.
- 8
Tell me more
By the end, you can ask questions that keep a conversation going.
- 9
What shall we do?
By the end, you can make plans and suggestions with someone.
- 10
Let’s sort it out
By the end, you can talk through a problem and help decide what to do.
- 11
What if…?
By the end, you can talk about imaginary situations.
- 12
Speaking when it counts
By the end, you can speak in an interview or meeting without freezing.
You begin with a short check called Where am I now?, and you take it again at the very end. I think you’ll be surprised by how far you’ve come.
The same calm path, every week.
Every chapter walks you through six steps, in the same order, so you always know what comes next.
- 1The phrases. A handful of ready-made phrases, grouped by what they do, with an example of each. Listen to me say them, and repeat them in the pauses.
- 2Try it. A short conversation between two people, and small exercises to notice how the phrases work.
- 3Say it. Sixteen questions to answer out loud, with a simple shape for a good answer and sample answers at the back.
- 4Talk it. One longer talk, given three times, each time a little shorter. It’s the quickest way I know to feel fluent.
- 5Look back. A quiet check on how the week went, and one minute in your voice diary.
- 6The mission. One small, real moment to use your English with real people. The missions start at home and grow slowly, chapter by chapter.
Along the way you’ll find little notes from me, the kind of tips I would whisper in a lesson. And on pages marked listen, a small code opens a recording of my voice.

Everything that comes with the book.
The book itself.
A 311-page digital workbook, designed to be calm on the eyes. One chapter a week, with examples before every task and answers at the back.
Made for your phone, tablet or laptop.
A menu takes you to any chapter or section in one tap. The contents page, the page references and the listening codes are all tappable. You can also print it for yourself, or write on it with a stylus.
52 recordings in my voice.
Every phrase, conversation and sample answer that matters, recorded slowly and clearly. Each listening page has a slower button, and one that takes you back five seconds.
Your voice diary.
One minute a week, for twelve weeks, with a question for each week. The first and last questions are the same, on purpose, so you can hear your own progress.
Twelve real-life missions.
They begin with speaking to yourself at home and end with introducing yourself in a meeting, an interview, or in front of a group. Each mission offers an online choice and an in-person choice. Both count.
Your own phrase book and progress pages.
Pages at the back to collect the phrases that feel most like you, and to tick off each chapter and mission.
Me, when you need me.
For 90 days after you buy, you can message me on WhatsApp with any question about the book. I reply within two working days.
One personal reply in my voice.
When you reach the end, send me your week 0 and week 12 voice diary recordings. I’ll listen to both and send you a voice note about what I hear.
Study unstuck with me, one chapter a week.
Some people do their best work alone. Others go further with someone beside them, someone who hears where they hesitate and knows exactly what to say next. If that’s you, we can work through the book together, one-on-one, for twelve weeks.
- The unstuck book, digital edition, with all 52 recordings.
- Twelve 50-minute lessons with me, one a week, online. Each lesson follows that week’s chapter, so we spend our time speaking, not explaining.
- A starting conversation. In our first lesson we go through Where am I now? together, and I shape the twelve weeks around what you need most.
- Weekly feedback in my voice. Send me your Talk it recording each week, and I’ll reply with a voice note: what went well, and one thing to try next.
- WhatsApp support for the whole twelve weeks, not just 90 days.
- A closing review. In our last lesson we listen to your week 0 and week 12 recordings side by side, and plan what comes after.
I take only a few one-on-one students at a time, so places are limited each month. You can pause once, for up to two weeks, if life gets busy.

Why I wrote unstuck
I’m Ammara, and I teach English one-on-one. I have taught more than a thousand lessons, to children, teenagers and grown adults with whole careers behind them, and I have met the same quiet moment again and again: a person who understands everything, and still can’t find their voice.
I wrote this book with one person in mind, someone I love dearly, who understands English beautifully and goes quiet when it’s time to speak. So every page is written slowly and kindly. There is nothing wrong with you. You don’t need more grammar. You need gentler practice, and a little courage, one week at a time.
